My Story Technology has always been a part of my school career. Even going back to my time in middle school when I was tasked with creating our district’s first website. I had the opportunity to help lead a technology class for students and teachers as an eighth grade student. I carried that passion for technology into my classroom as I tried to incorporate it into my lessons to effectively engage students. Now as the system Technology Director I am completely surrounded by technology each day. My goal is to ensure all things technological function properly to cause the least amount of disruption in our system.
Currently I serve as a facilitator for one of our system’s professional development cohorts. Our cohort, Tiger Tech, focuses on effectively implementing technology in the classroom. We aim to support our teachers as they strive to move away from simply substituting technology for traditional teaching methods to using it to allow students to create new knowledge.
My hopes are to use my training to improve my ability to support my teachers as they look for new ways of using technology to engage students. If our teachers can engage students using technology to construct new knowledge then our students will have a greater chance of being successful.
