I have been able to be a part of the implementation of different projects in our district since becoming an administrator and technology leader in our district. The top photograph is from a trip to Redwood City, CA where members of our administrative team were able to visit Summit Prep Charter School. During this visit we were trained on how to implement the Summit Personalized Learning Platform starting for us in 6th Grade. This particular program has a partnership with a team of engineers from Facebook that have worked to create an online platform that allows students to choose their learning path and work at their own pace to master the standards for their grade. This opportunity has the potential to be one of the biggest game changers ever for Roanoke City Schools.
The bottom photograph shows one of my more typical roles where I get to meet with staff from each of the schools to demo laptops that will be selected for our teachers. This particular photo shows me meeting with a team from our middle school in which they have hands on experience with the different devices. In the end, the technology teams will vote on the laptop they would prefer we choose as their next device.
Both of these examples have allowed me to be a part of moving Roanoke City Schools forward in our educational practices and technology initiatives.

I was able to be a part of a separate professional development opportunity called "Appy Hour" where teachers would visit with our tech team to during their planning periods to learn about new iPad apps they could incorporate into their classrooms. This screenshot is from a Google+ Community I created to share the resources from our meetings. "Appy Hour" allowed me to reach not just teachers in Tiger Tech but all teachers in our district and share for just a couple of minute some the tools available to them that could increase student engagement and the relevancy of our classroom through the implementation of technology into the classroom.
